Online Voter Registration

Yes, New Mexico has Online Voter Registration. OVR enacted in April 2015, and implemented in early 2016. Applicants need: SSN, drivers’ license number/State ID number, and date of birth. You can register online here.

Voter ID

New Mexico has no voter ID requirements.


New Mexico does have “no-excuse” vote-by-mail. Your ballot request must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday before Election Day. Your ballot must be received by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Early Voting

New Mexico has in-person early voting. Early voting begins 28 days prior to Election Day and ends the Saturday prior to Election Day. Early voting is located at County Clerks’ offices and alternate locations designated by County Clerks (between 1 and 12 alternate locations depending on size of county). Automatic Voter Registration (Motor Voter)

New Mexico has no Automatic Voter Registration.

Minor Pre-Registration
