Voter ID

New Jersey has no voter ID requirements.

Vote-By-Mail

New Jersey does have “no-excuse” vote-by-mail. Your ballot request must be received 7 days prior to the Election Day if you want the ballot mailed to you; by 3:00 p.m. the day before the election if you apply in person with the County Clerk. Your ballot must be received by close of polls on Election Day.

Early Voting

New Jersey has in-person early voting. Early voting begins 45 days before Election Day and ends 3:00 p.m. the day before Election Day. Early voting is located at County Clerk’s Offices. More information early voting is available here.

Automatic Voter Registration (Motor Voter)

New Jersey has Automatic Voter Registration. It automatically registers individuals when they apply for or renew a drivers license or personal ID card unless the applicant opts out. Allows a path for other state agencies to do the same.

Minor Pre-Registration

New Jersey allows voters to pre-register at the age of 17.
