Online Voter Registration

Yes, Massachusetts has Online Voter Registration. Need MA drivers’ license or ID card, and signature on file with RMV. You can register online here.

Voter ID

Massachusetts has no voter ID requirements.


Massachusetts does not have “no-excuse” vote-by-mail.

Early Voting

Massachusetts has in-person early voting, but only for general elections. Early voting begins on the 11th business day preceding the general election (however, if the eleventh business day before the election falls on a legal holiday the early voting period shall begin on the first business day prior to the legal holiday) and ends the day prior to Election Day. Early voting is located at an early voting site designated by each city and town that shall include the election office. More information early voting is available here.

Automatic Voter Registration (Motor Voter)

Massachusetts has no Automatic Voter Registration.

Minor Pre-Registration

Massachusetts allows voters to pre-register at the age of 16.
