Voter Participation Center and Center for Voter Information Launch Largest Nationwide Voter Registration Push in History

Today, the non-partisan voter registration organizations Voter Participation Center (VPC) and Center for Voter Information (CVI) announced they are launching the largest nationwide mail-based voter registration effort in their history—reaching eligible voters in every corner of the country.

VPC and CVI will send more than 4.7 million voter registration applications to eligible but unregistered Americans in August and September, with additional digital outreach and follow-up mailings planned in the lead-up to the 2026 elections. These efforts aim to ensure that millions of Americans have the tools they need to participate in democracy.

“Our goal is simple: make it as easy as possible for every eligible American to vote,” said Tom Lopach, CEO of the Voter Participation Center. “This is the largest registration effort we’ve ever launched, and it comes at a time when the freedom to vote, and a representative democracy is increasingly under threat.”

“Across the country, we’re seeing more barriers between voters and the ballot box, from more complicated registration requirements to rollbacks on vote-by-mail access. Our national expansion is about meeting voters where they are and ensuring no eligible American is left out of the democratic process heading into elections this fall and in 2026.”

Since their founding, VPC and CVI have helped over 6.6 million people submit voter registration applications and have mobilized tens of millions more. Their programs focus on communities that are too often left out of the political process—people of color, young people, and unmarried women.

Each mailing includes the same official voter registration application used by state election offices. Recipients can choose to register online or by returning the enclosed form by mail.

This expansion comes at a critical time for voting rights, as Americans face increased challenges to registration access and voter participation. VPC and CVI’s work helps bridge the gap to ensure that registration is accessible, nonpartisan, and secure.

The Voter Participation Center (VPC) and the Center for Voter Information (CVI) are non-profit, non-partisan organizations dedicated to increasing civic engagement and closing voter registration and turnout gaps. Since 2003, VPC and CVI have helped register millions of voters—particularly among historically underrepresented communities—and continue to run the nation’s largest mail-based and digital voter engagement programs.
