Statement: Voter Participation Center/Center for Voter Information Applaud Administration’s Decision to Appoint Kim Wyman to Top Elections Role

Washington, D.C. — In response to the news that the Biden Administration will name Kim Wyman to serve as the election security lead for DHS’ Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Tom Lopach, President and CEO of the Voter Participation Center (VPC) and Center for Voter Information (CVI), released the following statement:

“VPC and CVI believe that protecting our democracy is an American priority, not a red or blue issue. That’s why VPC and CVI are heartened that Kim Wyman will serve in this top election role and will work to protect our elections from both international and domestic interference. She has shown strong leadership in fighting election fraud and we are looking forward to working together to defend our democracy.”

The Voter Participation Center and Center for Voter Information are non-profit, non-partisan organizations founded in 2003 to help members of the New American Majority – unmarried women, people of color and young people – register and vote. Since then, the organizations have helped 5.7 million people register and cast ballots.
