Online Voter Registration

Yes, Missouri has Online Voter Registration. A person can register to vote online and electronically provide a signature using a mobile device, tablet, or touchscreen computer. The state reviews the information and then prints out the form and sends it to the person’s local elections office for verification. You can register online here.

Voter ID

Strict = if no identification, voter must take additional measures after Election Day to have ballot counted

Non-strict = if no identification, voter still has option to cast ballot that may be counted without additional measures by voter


Missouri has strict, non-photo ID requirements. Here are the approved forms of ID:

  • Non-expired Missouri driver license;
  • Non-expired or non-expiring Missouri non-driver license;
  • Non-expired document which contains the voter’s name and photograph and is issued by the United States or the state of Missouri
  • Non-expired or non-expiring military ID card which contains a photograph.

You may also use these forms of identification and sign a statement provided by the election judge at your polling place:

  • Identification issued by the state of Missouri, an agency of the state, or a local election authority of the state;
  • Identification issued by the United States government or agency thereof;
  • Identification issued by an institution of higher education, including a university, college, vocational and technical school, located within the state of Missouri; or
  • A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or other government document that contains the name and address of the voter


Missouri does not have “no-excuse” vote-by-mail.

Early Voting

Missouri has no in-person early voting.

Automatic Voter Registration (Motor Voter)

Missouri has no Automatic Voter Registration.

Minor Pre-Registration

Missouri allows registration of those who are 17 and 1/2 years old if they turn 18 before the next election.
