Online Voter Registration

Yes, Minnesota has Online Voter Registration. Need MN drivers’ license or ID or last 4 of SSN. You can register online here.

Voter ID

Minnesota has no voter ID requirements. Proof of residence only required if need to register, update registration, or have not voted in four or more years.

Minnesota does have “no-excuse” vote-by-mail. You can request your ballot at any time, but “leave time for election officials to mail your ballot and for you to return it before Election Day”. Your ballot must be received by Election Day (if in person, then by 3:00 p.m.)

Early Voting

Minnesota has in-person early voting. Early voting begins 46 days prior to Election Day (“in-person absentee” rather than “early” voting) and ends 5:00 p.m. the day prior to Election Day. Early voting is located at State Elections Offices or other locations designated by County Auditor. You can register in person at same time as voting absentee in-person. More information early voting is available here.

Automatic Voter Registration (Motor Voter)

Minnesota has no Automatic Voter Registration.

Minor Pre-Registration

No specific provision. Contact your state election officials for details.
