Online Voter Registration

Yes, Maryland has Online Voter Registration. Need a signature in drivers’ license or ID database. You can register online here.

Voter ID

Maryland has no voter ID requirements.

Vote-By-Mail

Maryland does have “no-excuse” vote-by-mail. You must request your ballot 7 days before Election Day if want ballot mailed or faxed; 4 days before Election Day if you want to download ballot from website. Your ballot must be received by close of polls on Election Day.

Early Voting

Maryland has in-person early voting. Early voting begins on the Second Saturday before Election Day and ends the Thursday before Election Day. Early voting is located at the designated early voting center in each county. More information early voting is available here.

Automatic Voter Registration (Motor Voter)

Maryland has Automatic Voter Registration planned to take effect in July of 2019. It will automatically register individuals when interacting with these agencies unless the applicant opts out:

  • DMV
  • Health benefit exchange
  • Local departments of social services
  • Mobility Certification Office

Minor Pre-Registration

Maryland allows voters to pre-register at the age of 16.
