Online Voter Registration

Yes, Kansas has Online Voter Registration. Need Kansas drivers’ license or ID card. Need SSN and Date of Birth. Provide signature either electronically or via DL. You can register online here.

Voter ID

Strict = if no identification, voter must take additional measures after Election Day to have ballot counted

Non-strict = if no identification, voter still has option to cast ballot that may be counted without additional measures by voter


Kansas has strict photo ID requirements. Here are the approved forms of ID in the state of Kansas:

  • A driver’s license or nondriver’s identification card issued by Kansas or by another state or district of the United States
  • A concealed carry of handgun license issued by Kansas or a concealed carry of handgun or weapon license issued by another state or district of the United States
  • A United States passport
  • An employee badge or identification document issued by a municipal, county, state, or federal government office
  • A military identification document issued by the United States
  • A student identification card issued by an accredited postsecondary institution of education in the state of Kansas
  • A public assistance identification card issued by a municipal, county, state or federal government office
  • An identification card issued by an Indian tribe


Kansas does have “no-excuse” vote-by-mail. Your ballot request must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to Election Day. Your ballot must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received no more than three days after Election Day; in-person by Election Day.

Early Voting

Kansas has in-person early voting. Early voting begins on the Tuesday before Election Day OR UP TO 20 days prior to Election Day (varies by county) and ends 12:00 p.m. theday prior to Election Day. Early voting is located at Offices of County Election Officers or other satellite locations designated by county election officers. More information early voting is available here.

Automatic Voter Registration (Motor Voter)

Kansas has no Automatic Voter Registration.

Minor Pre-Registration
