Online Voter Registration

Yes, Idaho has Online Voter Registration. Need a Idaho drivers’ license or ID card. You can register online here.

Voter ID

Strict = if no identification, voter must take additional measures after Election Day to have ballot counted

Non-strict = if no identification, voter still has option to cast ballot that may be counted without additional measures by voter

Idaho has non-strict photo ID requirements. Here are the approved forms of ID in the state of Idaho:

  • An Idaho driver’s license or Idaho photo identification card.
  • A U.S. passport or Federal photo identification card.
  • A tribal photo identification card.
  • A current student photo ID, issued by an Idaho high school or post secondary education institution.
  • A license to carry a concealed weapon issued by a county sheriff in Idaho.

Vote-By-Mail

Idaho does have “no-excuse” vote-by-mail. You must request your ballot 11 days prior to the Election Day. Your ballot must be received received by Election Day if by mail, but if in-person, it must be received at the polling place by 5:00 p.m. the Friday before the election.

Early Voting

Idaho has in-person early voting. Early voting begins on a varying date and ends Friday prior to Election Day. Early voting is located in varying locations depending on the county – contact your county clerk’s office for more information. Automatic Voter Registration (Motor Voter)

Idaho has no Automatic Voter Registration.

Minor Pre-Registration

No specific provision. Contact your state election officials for details.
