Online Voter Registration

Yes, Georgia has Online Voter Registration. Need a Georgia drivers’ license or ID card, and also have signature on file. You can register online here.

Voter ID

Strict = if no identification, voter must take additional measures after Election Day to have ballot counted

Non-strict = if no identification, voter still has option to cast ballot that may be counted without additional measures by voter

 

Georgia has strict photo ID requirements. Here are the approved forms of ID in the state of Georgia:

  • Any valid state or federal government issued photo ID, including a free ID Card issued by your county registrar’s office or the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS)
  • A Georgia Driver’s License, even if expired
  • Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state
  • Valid U.S. passport ID
  • Valid U.S. military photo ID
  • Valid tribal photo ID

Vote-By-Mail

Georgia does have “no-excuse” vote-by-mail. You must request your ballot 4 days prior to Election Day (typically Friday before Election Day). Your ballot must be received by close of polls on Election Day.

Early Voting

Georgia has in-person early voting. Early voting begins on the 4th Monday prior to Election Day and ends the Friday prior to Election Day. Early voting is located at Board of Registrars’ offices and sites designated by Board of Registrars (government buildings accessible to public). More information early voting is available here.

Automatic Voter Registration (Motor Voter)

Yes, Georgia has Automatic Voter Registration. AVR Automatically registers individuals (or updates current voter registration) when interacting with DMV unless the applicant opts out.

Minor Pre-Registration

Georgia allows registration of those who are 17 and 1/2 years old if they turn 18 before the next election.
