Online Voter Registration

Yes, Florida has Online Voter Registration. You need a Florida drivers’ license or ID card. You can register online here.

Voter ID

Strict = if no identification, voter must take additional measures after Election Day to have ballot counted

Non-strict = if no identification, voter still has option to cast ballot that may be counted without additional measures by voter

 

Florida has non-strict, photo ID requirements. Here are the approved forms of ID in the state of Florida:

  • Florida driver’s license
  • Florida identification card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
  • United States passport
  • Debit or credit card
  • Military identification
  • Student identification
  • Retirement center identification
  • Neighborhood association identification
  • Public assistance identification
  • Veteran health identification card issued by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs
  • License to carry a concealed weapon or firearm issued pursuant to s. 790.06
  • Employee identification card issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the Federal Government, the state, a county, or a municipality.

*If your photo ID does not include your signature, you will be asked to provide another ID that has your signature.

Vote-By-Mail

Florida does have “no-excuse” vote-by-mail. You must request your ballot by the 6th day before Election Day or in person through Election Day. The ballot must be received no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Early Voting

Florida has in-person early voting. Early voting begins 10 days prior to Election Day (discretion of Supervisor of Elections to add up to 5 extra days) and ends 3 days prior to Election Day (discretion of Supervisor of Elections to end 2 days prior to Election Day). Early voting locations include: Supervisors of Elections Offices (main and branch) and sites designated by Supervisors of Elections (designated 30 days prior to election). Photo ID and signature ID are required for early voting. More information on early voting in Florida is available here.

Automatic Voter Registration (Motor Voter)

Florida has no Automatic Voter Registration.

Minor Pre-Registration

Florida allows voters to pre-register at the age of 16.
