Yes, Alaska has Online Voter Registration. A voter needs a valid AK drivers’ license or State ID. Signature will come from DMV record. You can register online here.

Voter ID

Strict = if no identification, voter must take additional measures after Election Day to have ballot counted

Non-strict = if no identification, voter still has option to cast ballot that may be counted without additional measures by voter

Alaska has non-strict,  non-photo ID requirements. Here are the approved forms of ID in the state of Alaska:

  • Voter ID card
  • Driver’s license
  • State ID
  • Military ID
  • Passport
  • Hunting or fishing license
  • Other current or valid photo ID

Alaska does have “no-excuse” vote-by-mail. The request deadline for your ballot is 10 days before Election Day and it must be returned postmarked on or before Election Day.

Early Voting

Alaska has in-person early voting. Early voting starts 15 days prior to Election Day and ends on Election Day. You can cast your early vote in Election Offices and other locations. You can find an early voting location here.

Automatic Voter Registration (Motor Voter)

Alaska has Automatic Voter Registration. AVR automatically registers/updates eligible voters when they complete their annual Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) application, unless they decline via notification sent.

Minor Pre-Registration

Alaska allows voters under 18 years old to register at any time within 90 days before their 18th birthday.
