September Mailing: 11 MILLION Voter Registration Forms

September 7, 2016

Early this year, we set an ambitious goal for ourselves: to register more than 1 million voters in 2016.

We’re already halfway there, with more than 500,000 voter registration applications sent by the Voter Participation Center that have been submitted to elections officials.

And with our September mail program, we’re confident in our ability to reach that ambitious goal, as we’re mailing out 11 million more voter registration forms to prospective voters in 18 states, spanning from coast to coast, in partnership with key national allies.

That’s millions more Americans who will potentially have the opportunity to make their voices heard in our democracy and make a difference in the direction this country takes. This month’s mailing is going out to prospective voters in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

The Rising American Electorate — unmarried women, people of color, and millennials — make up the majority of eligible voters in the United States.

Our goal is to help them to make up the majority of votes as well — and the key to that is voter registration. 53 million members of the Rising American Electorate currently aren’t registered to vote, and we’re committed to ensuring that they don’t miss out on the chance to have their say at the ballot box.

We think that it’s critically important that our democracy reflect the diversity of our nation, which is why we’ve made it our mission to make it easier for the Rising American Electorate to raise their voices. Since our founding, we’ve helped register over 3 million voters.

In our mailings, we use the best technology available to ensure that mail recipients are both eligible to vote and unregistered at their current address. This year, we further enhanced our comprehensive program to continue to refine our mailing list processes. But those mail recipients who do happen to receive a registration form in error may easily remove their names from VPC’s database by filling out an online unsubscribe form.

We couldn’t do this important work without the ongoing generosity and support of our donors. If you would like to join us in fulfilling the American mission of ensuring that every American has a voice in our democracy, click here to donate to VPC.

And, of course, if you’re not registered to vote yet, register to vote today using our easy online form!
